PPP making efforts to improve relations with AD Khawaja: sources | Pakistan

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party is endeavouring to improve its relations with Sindh Inspector General Allah Dino Khawaja, sources informed Daily Sun News News on Friday.

For this purpose, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah also met with Sindh IG AD Khawaja today, said the sources, adding that the two officials discussed issues pertaining to the provincial police department during the meeting, which was held at CM House.

A one-on-one meeting was held between the two officials after months. During the meeting, CM Sindh assured IG Sindh of his full cooperation.

Earlier, sources informed that PPP has tasked CM Sindh to improve party’s relations with the incumbent IG.

On Thursday, the Sindh High Court had announced that AD Khawaja shall continue to work as the IGP of Sindh.

The high court ordered the provincial government to hold discussions and bring reforms in the police department. However, the PPP government stated that they would continue their legal fight against the issue.

Responding to this, PPP leader Saeed Ghani had said that the Sindh government would not be comfortable in holding talks with IGP AD Khawaja now that the high court has imposed its decision regarding his stay, said senior PPP leader Saeed Ghani.

While speaking on Daily Sun News News’ show Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath on Thursday, Ghani said if courts will take a decision over keeping or removing the inspector general of police then the provincial government should not be held responsible for the consequences.

He added the decision of transfers and postings should remain with the provincial government as it is the one held responsible when law and order disrupts.
