Massive traffic congestions hit Dubai motorists

Hundreds of UAE residents stuck in huge congestions as crews undertake maintenance, road works

Dubai:  Huge bottlenecks around the city disrupted early morning commute of UAE residents on Sunday as they got back to work on the first day of the week.

Some of these congestions were due to road closures that have been carried out to pave way for maintenance or construction work.

As of 9am, traffic gluts were reported in major thoroughfares including Shaikh Zayed Road, Ras Al Khor Road and Airport tunnel, as well as in areas in and around Al Nahda, Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Wafi Mall, Jafiliya and Trade Centre Roundabout.

Motorists driving to and from the Dubai International Airport have been advised to take alternate routes as well.

The Dubai Police has advised that congestion has been reported in both directions in the Airport tunnel, from Al Rabat towards Dubai Festival City, due to some bridge maintenance work.
