Commander Rawalpindi Corps Lt General Nadeem Raza paid a visit to the troops along the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to giving an effective response to Indian ceasefire violations.

General Raza went to the Battal and Dawarandi sectors, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

He lauded the military personnel’s high morale and vowed to protect the innocent civilians caught in the crossfire of unprovoked Indian shelling. He quashed claims of India having conducted a surgical strike.

Earlier this month, a five-year-old girl was martyred after she was hit in the head by a bullet fired by Indian troops in Polas village at Abbaspur sector on LoC.

Despite calls for restraint, India continues to indulge in ceasefire violations. In 2017 to date, Indian forces have carried out more than 600 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, resulting in the martyrdom of 28 civilians and injuries to 113, as compared to 382 ceasefire violations in 2016.
